About JITO (JTO)

What Is Jito (JTO)?

Jito (JTO) is a Solana-based protocol ecosystem focused on liquid staking, transaction execution, and maximal extractable value, commonly known as MEV. Its infrastructure is designed to improve how transactions are processed on Solana while allowing validators and stakers to participate in MEV-generated rewards.

JTO is the governance token of the Jito Network. Introduced in 2023, it enables token holders to participate in the Jito DAO and vote on decisions related to protocol parameters, treasury management, fee structures, and ecosystem development.

JTO should not be confused with JitoSOL. JTO is primarily used for governance, while JitoSOL is a liquid staking token representing SOL deposited into the Jito stake pool. JitoSOL holders can retain liquidity and use the token across supported DeFi applications while their underlying SOL earns staking and MEV-related rewards.

Because JTO is connected to governance and the development of a major Solana infrastructure ecosystem, its price is influenced by Jito adoption, Solana network activity, governance participation, protocol revenue, token supply dynamics, and broader crypto market conditions.

How Jito Works

Jito combines liquid staking with infrastructure designed to improve transaction execution on Solana. Users can deposit SOL into the Jito stake pool and receive JitoSOL in return. The deposited SOL is delegated across selected validators, while JitoSOL acts as a transferable representation of the staked position.

Unlike traditional staking positions that may be temporarily illiquid, JitoSOL can be transferred, traded, or used in supported DeFi protocols. Its exchange rate relative to SOL is designed to increase as staking and MEV rewards accumulate.

MEV refers to additional value that can be generated by changing how transactions are ordered, included, or excluded within blocks. Jito provides transaction execution infrastructure that allows searchers to submit transaction bundles and validators to receive tips for processing them. Part of this value can be distributed through the Jito ecosystem.

Jito also develops tools such as StakeNet, an on-chain system designed to evaluate validators and manage stake delegation using transparent performance criteria. These tools aim to improve validator selection, staking efficiency, and network participation across Solana.

Why Jito Matters

Jito matters because it addresses two important areas of the Solana ecosystem: staking liquidity and transaction execution.

Liquid staking allows users to participate in network security without giving up access to a transferable asset. JitoSOL can be used in lending markets, liquidity pools, and other DeFi applications while continuing to represent an underlying staked SOL position.

Jito’s MEV infrastructure also aims to make transaction ordering more transparent and efficient. Poorly managed MEV can contribute to failed transactions, network congestion, and unfavorable execution for users. Jito’s infrastructure provides a structured marketplace where validators, searchers, and applications can coordinate transaction execution.

JTO price is influenced by several factors, including JitoSOL adoption, Solana staking activity, MEV volume, DAO decisions, protocol fee changes, token unlocks, exchange liquidity, and broader crypto market sentiment.

Users tracking the Jito price should review more than the live JTO price alone. Relevant indicators include market capitalization, 24-hour trading volume, circulating supply, governance participation, JitoSOL adoption, protocol activity, and changes to Jito’s economic model.

JTO Tokenomics and Governance

JTO has a total supply of 1 billion tokens. Its original allocation included community growth, ecosystem development, investors, core contributors, and the Jito Foundation.

A portion of the supply was distributed retrospectively to users and contributors who helped develop the Jito ecosystem. Eligible participants included JitoSOL users, validators operating Jito-related infrastructure, and searchers using Jito’s MEV products.

JTO holders can participate in governance decisions involving:

  1. JitoSOL stake pool and restaking fees.
  2. StakeNet delegation parameters.
  3. TipRouter settings and other protocol parameters.
  4. Jito DAO treasury management.
  5. Protocol upgrades and ecosystem development.

Holding JTO does not automatically represent staked SOL or guarantee staking income. JitoSOL and JTO have separate functions, and any JTO-based staking or restaking opportunity depends on the specific program, platform, and applicable terms.

Jito Ecosystem and Recent Developments

The Jito ecosystem includes JitoSOL, the Jito stake pool, MEV infrastructure, StakeNet, TipRouter, governance tools, restaking products, and integrations with Solana DeFi applications.

JitoSOL can be used across supported lending protocols, decentralized exchanges, and liquidity markets. This gives users additional ways to deploy a liquid staking position, although DeFi participation may involve smart contract, liquidity, and market risks.

Jito has also developed the Block Assembly Marketplace, or BAM, an architecture intended to bring greater programmability, privacy, and verifiability to Solana’s transaction pipeline. Its plugin-based design can support transaction scheduling, oracle updates, application-controlled execution, and other specialized use cases.

Institutional access to JitoSOL has also expanded. In January 2026, a 21Shares exchange-traded product backed by JitoSOL launched in Europe, providing regulated exposure to an asset associated with Solana staking and MEV rewards. This development may increase Jito’s visibility but does not guarantee future JTO price performance.
