A specific portion of these tokens was allocated to ZK researchers, who laid the groundwork for the zkEVM protocol that Scroll uses.

Another part of this distribution, 1,715,000 SCR tokens, went to open-source contributors who helped develop key repositories integral to Scroll’s functionality. The allocation targeted contributors with substantial involvement, particularly those with over 20 pull requests (PRs) to relevant open-source codebases.

In addition to developers, 150,000 SCR tokens were set aside for organizations like DefiLlama, L2Beat, and GrowThePie, which provide crucial data and analytics services for the decentralized finance (DeFi) and blockchain sectors.
